Professional readiness is the ability to work well with others and display situationally and culturally appropriate demeanor and behavior. Professionally ready degree graduates will be able to demonstrate skills important for successful transition into the workplace and pursuit of further education.

Student Learning Outcomes

Who are we assessing?

Students enrolled in ADJ 171, INS 231, MAC 106, 107 & 215, MUS 121, 222, 225 & 226, SDV 106 & SOC 200

How is performance rated?

A rubric, based on the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) Teamwork and Oral Communication VALUE Rubrics, will be used to evaluate work products of students in the selected courses.

What score do we expect?

75% of students will receive a score of 2 (minimally meets expectations) or higher on demonstrating appropriate workplace and classroom demeanor and behavior e.g., attendance (for online classes this means regular engagement), submissions of assignments by set deadlines and appropriate dress.

What did we find?

The target score was met with 83.7% of students receiving a score of 2 (minimally meets expectations) or higher.

Where do we go from here?

At the beginning of each academic year, the General Education Committee reviews assessment findings to evaluate student achievement of General Education outcomes. The committee uses these results to identify trends, determine improvement priorities, and implement actions designed to strengthen student learning and program effectiveness.
