ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The New River Community College Educational Foundation awards scholarships up to $2,150 to support students' academic studies.

These awards are based on criteria such as financial need and academic achievement, and are available to students who are enrolled or intend to enroll in degree, diploma, or certificate programs.
Scholarships are made possible by the generous donations of individuals and organizations who have chosen to provide their support for students through the Foundation's Endowed Scholarship Program.

Eligibility Requirements

Except as otherwise noted, the following general criteria apply to all Foundation Scholarship applicants.

• Must be a Virginia resident living in the New River Community College service region (Giles, Floyd, Pulaski or Montgomery Counties, or the City of Radford). (Note: A limited number of scholarships do not have this requirement.)
• Must enroll in a degree, diploma, or certificate program at NRCC.
• Must maintain a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA while enrolled at NRCC. (Note: Some scholarships require a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA.)

Scholarships are added to the list above as they become fully funded and made available to students.

Creating a Scholarship

Many donors take advantage of the endowed scholarship program to honor or memorialize family members or others.
In addition to a set of general criteria for all scholarships, donors may specify additional selection criteria, such as designating a preferred degree, diploma, or certificate program or a geographical location where the applicant must reside.
The minimum amount to endow a scholarship is $30,000.
This amount may be paid in installments for a period of up to five years.
Funds are invested, the principle remains intact, and the interest is used to award a scholarship each year.
