Student services advisors are available to help you over the phone, through email, or by scheduling a virtual or in-person appointment. For in-person appointments, follow links at the end of this section for Dublin Campus or Uptown Christiansburg (formerly Mall Site)
Advisors are available by phone, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., by calling the Advising Center at 540-674-3609. If you are unable to reach someone during these times, please be patient as this means we are on the phone assisting other students. We ask that you leave a message, and someone will return your call the same day. Messages received after 5:00 p.m. or on weekends will be returned the following business day.
Advisors also are available by email at advising@nr.edu. We ask that you please either call and leave a voicemail message or send an email – but not both. Utilizing both forms of contact methods will result in duplicate advising requests and may slow our response time. Emails will be responded to within one-two business days. We thank you for your patience and understanding as we are committed to helping all students during this time.
As a reminder, if you are a current student, you may register for classes through the Student Information System (SIS) or by contacting your assigned student services advisor for assistance.
Advisors are available to assist you in developing an educational plan to help you achieve your goals, whether it is to continue your education at a transfer college or university, or to prepare you for immediate job entry.
The Advising Staff can help ensure that students make satisfactory progress towards the completion of academic coursework, and other situations pertaining to program completion. Advisors are also available to assist in locating referrals to off campus resources when necessary.
Advisors are a great resource if you are having difficulties or are unsure of next steps. Their role is to provide additional direction as you progress through the college experience.
