Phi Theta Kappa
Phi Theta Kappa's nonprofit mission is to recognize and promote student academic achievement.
PTK provides opportunities to cultivate professional and leadership skills, secure scholarships, explore diverse career paths, and build a network of supportive peers and trusted advisors that last a lifetime.
Member Requirements
To be invited to join:
- Have a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA
- Completed at least 12 non-developmental credits at NRCC
- Be currently enrolled at NRCC
To maintain membership:
- Maintain a minimum 3.2 cumulative GPA while at NRCC

- Tee shirt and sweatshirt identifying you as a member
- Opportunities to receive scholarships to four-year schools upon transferring
- Letters of recommendation to prospective employers from local and national chapters
- Opportunity to attend regional and national conferences with other student leaders form New River Community College
