The Claire B. Matthews and Jack M. Mathews Scholar-
ship Fund offers two scholarships annually for the study of Forestry at Virginia Tech to students who meet the following criteria:

• Be a resident of the four-county area of Grayson, Carroll, Wythe, and Pulaski Commonwealth of Virginia to include city of Galax;
• Be a graduate of either Wtheville Community College or New River Community College;\
• Have a minimum 3.0 GPA;
• Have a demonstrated financial need as per the requirements of the Virginia Tech Financial Aid Office.

The annual scholarships may cover the following expenses:

• Tuition
• Related expenses
• Housing
• Board and room

Student recipients who have completed the third year of Forestry may make an application for an additional scholarship for the fourth year of study if a 3.0 GPA has been achieved.

Students are encouraged to work directly with the academic advisor in the Academic Programs of the College of Natural Resources during their semesters enrolled in the community college system to ensure transfer of courses to Virginia Tech.
