The Transfer Option

If you see yourself attending a four-year college or university, consider starting with a two-year program. New River graduates have transferred to four-year colleges and universities throughout the country, including Virginia Tech, Radford, University of Tennessee, University of Virginia, Virginia Military Institute, University of Louisville, East Tennessee State, Arizona State, Ohio State and many others. You can get the same level of classes as you would doing the first two years at a university, without sitting in a lecture hall with 300 other students.
Starting your college career in a two-year program can be a great idea if you want to be close to home during this time in your life, or if you're not quite certain about a major. You can get an excellent education while saving a lot of money in the process, and transfer after a year or two or whenever you feel ready. NRCC graduates have been highly successful after transferring. In fact, studies have shown that they do as well as, and often better than, students who began their studies at four-year colleges and universities.
