Placement Tests
Photo Identification is required for placement testing.
Before you schedule your classes, placement tests are given in math, reading, and English to ensure your success. If you have attended another college or university and successfully completed English or math, you may not be required to take the placement tests. SAT scores of 500 (reading, writing, and math) or an ACT score of 21 may also exempt you from placement testing.
Math, reading, and English information guides are available in the Counseling Center, the Mall site, and under the “Quick Links- Placement” section of the college website (www.nr.edu). You may want to obtain these prior to taking the tests. The Math Department also recommends that you “brush up” on your math before taking the tests.
The tests are untimed but could take 1-2 hours to complete. Make sure that you allow plenty of time to finish. You will then be ready to talk to a counselor who will assist you in scheduling your classes.
