Career Center
The career center is located within the counseling center of Rooker Hall. DISCOVER and Virginia VIEW are two computerized systems of interactive guidance and information on career planning occupational and educational information. Both of these are available in the career center. Career links are additional career website addresses to assist you.
As a student using the services of the Career Center you can expect the following:
- Students will be treated with respect, whether they are served in a group or individually.
- No guarantees can be made regarding the satisfaction or success of the individual career decisions following the use of services.
- Exploring your interests, values, personality, and experiences is the beginning of or key to effective career decision making. Exploring the world of work is the next step.
- Staff will refer you to the appropriate resources, both inside and outside of the center (including people, books, video, etc).
- Walk in services are available; however scheduled appointments are encouraged
(and will be given priority). - All services are free.
- No one will be denied service or discriminated again on the basis of sex, age, race, religion,
ethnic or national origin, or handicap.
As a student using the services of the Career Center, the following is expected from you:
- Recognize your active role in making career plans. Remember, motivation comes from within.
- Keep scheduled appointments (or phone if you must cancel or be late).
- Treat resources with respect.
- Follow-through with homework e.g success stories, information interviews.
- Ask questions and listen to answers.
- Share with others how you benefited form Career Planning Services; Share with only Career Planning Center Staff how we can improve our services.
