Constitution
We, the alumni of New River Community College, in order to promote college and alumni relations; to facilitate communication between alumni, students, administration and College Board; to advocate programs that will create and enrich the school spirit of our college; to assist in promoting and developing good public relations between New River Community College and the community; to assist all graduates of our college whenever possible; and to foster and promote a love and respect for our college among ourselves, do hereby establish this Constitution for the organization and regulation of the New River Community College Alumni Association.
ARTICLE II - NAME
The name of this organization shall be the New River Community College Alumni Association, hereafter referred to as the Alumni Association.
ARTICLE II - MEMBERSHIP
Any graduate or former student at New River Community College is eligible for membership in the New River Community College Alumni Association. A member shall become an active member upon payment of dues. An active member shall be entitled to vote in all elections, to voice his/her opinions in meetings and to vote on amendments to this constitution.
ARTICLE III - ORGANIZATION
Section 1 - Executive Committee. The Executive Committee shall consist of all current officers and the immediate past president.
Section 2 - Board of Directors. The Board of Directors shall consist of at least one member from each of NRCC's service areas, current president of Ambassadors, one faculty member from each division, and any others the officers deem necessary. The board will be limited to ten members, excluding officers.
Section 3 - Standing Committees. The standing committees shall be the Membership Committee, the Public Relations Committee, the Finance Committee, the Social Committee and the Ways and Means Committee.
Section 4 - Inactive Members. Inactive members are persons who are eligible for membership but who have not paid dues.
ARITCLE IV - OFFICERS
Section 1 - Officers. The officers shall be president, vice-president, immediate past president, secretary, treasurer, and any others deemed necessary and added by amendment and vote of the Alumni Association.
Section 2 - Election to Office. Any active member of the Alumni Association is eligible for election to office.
Section 3 - Nominations. Nominations shall be by a Nominating Committee appointed by the president and any nomination from the floor at a regularly scheduled meeting in April.
Section 4 - Election of Officers. The election of officers for the Alumni Association shall be held once a year at the regularly scheduled April meeting.
Section 5 - Installation. Installation shall be held immediately after election of officers at the same meeting.
Section 6 - Tenure of Office. Tenure of office shall be for a period of one year beginning on June 1 and ending the following May 31, unless removed for good and sufficient reasons by a majority vote of those present at a regular meeting.
Section 7 - Duties of Officers.

The president of the Alumni Association shall act as the official representative of the Alumni Association and shall call and preside at all regular meetings and called meetings. The president shall appoint committees necessary for efficient operation of the Executive Board and shall at all times represent the alumni in any public presentation.

The vice-president shall act as the president in case of his/her absence. The vice-president shall be chairman of the Membership Committee.

The immediate past president shall be chairman of the Social Committee. He/she shall assist the president and vice-president in any instance when deemed necessary.

The secretary shall keep the minutes and record that attendance at all meetings. He/she shall release notification of any and all called meetings, particularly to the press and radio, and shall handle all official correspondence.

The treasurer shall prepare and keep on file all financial reports and shall administer all alumni funds and make a yearly report to the Alumni Association at the regularly scheduled June meeting. He/she shall be chairman of the Finance Committee and will be bonded.
ARTICLE V - MEETINGS
Section 1 - Regularly Scheduled Meetings. The Alumni Association will meet quarterly.
Section 2 - Officers. The officers will meet, other than regularly scheduled meetings, when deemed necessary.
ARTICLE VI - AMENDMENTS
The constitution may be amended by a two-thirds vote of the total active ;membership present or by written proxy at a regular meeting.
ARTICLE VII
The constitution shall take effect immediately upon approval of the Alumni Association and the College Board of New River Community College
ARTICLE VIII
The amount of dues shall be established annually by the Alumni Association.
