Health Programs (CommonHealth)
NRCC alumni are invited to participate in CommonHealth programs offered to NRCC faculty and staff. These programs include a wide range of activities designed to promote personal health and well-being. Most are free of charge.
To participate in any activity, please sign up in advance by contacting Brian Clark at 674-3600, Ext. 4431 or nrclarb@nr.edu. When enrolling, please indicate that you are an alumnus of NRCC.

- Letting Go
Feeling a little stressed these days? Take a guided tour through relaxation and leave feeling refreshed and relaxed with tools that can help you feel that way on any given day. Participants receive a relaxation CD.

- Quit Smoking: First Step
America’s respected former Surgeon General, Dr. C. Everett Koop, M.D., gives smokers some ammunition for a successful attempt to quit smoking. Also provides valuable insight for the family members and friends of smokers to help them understand the tremendous effort it takes to quit.
Fall 2004 Monthly Challenges:
To participate:
1) Simply pick up a challenge form at the beginning of the month in the mail room.
2) Record your activities on the form.
3) Return to Brian Clark’s box by the due date.

Virginia on the Move
- Designed to provide education, support and tools to encourage individuals to take just 2,000 extra steps each day (equivalent of one mile), or eat 100 calories less in order to create balance between energy expenditure and consumption. All participants will receive a pedometer.
November
Reducing Your Risk for Cancer
- Practice healthy behaviors that reduce the risk of cancer and receive a stadium cushion.
December
Letting Go
- Practice breathing, stretching and/or recorded relaxation exercises for reduced tension and receive a CD case.
